Went out this morning to pick up some post. Jumped in the car and drove off. Thought there was a funny noise like a flat tyre. Parked up looked at the passenger side and was greeted with this

[picture of car] Cant seem to post picture. Basically passenger side completly stoved in.

ARRRGGHHHH!!!!

Not happy. Spent nearly £300 on new wheels and exhaust last week. Foolishly only insured TPFT.

Rang the police and they were going to check if there were any incidents reported last night but I wasnt holding my breath.

Did a bit of CSI work and found a wheel trim in the road and bust bits of plastic by were it happened and the wheel trim has blood on it! Hopefully they did some damage to themselves when they hit the car.

Also spoke to one of the neightbours and her husband saw it happen looked liek 2 !!!!ed up girls in the car.

The police have been around and i gave them a statement. The girl was found to be twice over the limit and driving without insurance. The car is insured by her mum but im not sure if i will be able to make a claim against her or not.

Apparently the girl was round her friends house drinking and had a row with her boyfriend and then decided to drive home! She told the policewoman that she had just scratched my car

Started the ball rolling with HelpHire hopefully will get a payout but i won't hold my breath.

Has anyone been in a similair situation?

  • I think with a drink driving conviction against the defendant you'll have absolutely no problem with your claim.

You can either ask the police for her Insurance details, although this can take some time. Alternatively you can find them using this website https://www.askmid.com which will also give you the phone number for her Insurers. They will not want to deal with the claim until they have had their client report the claim. If you give them the crime reference, the name / badge number of the office dealing with it and the police station, some Insurers will be proactive and ring the police for details although most won't.

Once the other Insurers accept its their fault they should be happy t reimberse you
