Hi everyone!
Can you help me???

At the moment we have BT broadband, a netgear router (for laptops wireless connection) and Norton Anti virus (free from BT) and are very happy!!.........

BT sent us an e-mail to say that Norton is no longer with them and we need to switch. Sounds simple. NO!!

It says we have to have Netprotect plus, plus a home hub, an extra phone??? and when I tried to do it online it started banging on about a new e-mail address............aaaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhh.

This is way to complicated. I'm happy as I am.
Any advice anyone???

Thanks
;) Newbie Comper ;)

You don't have to get your free AV from BT. We were sent a home hub when they first came out but my then work IT dept wouldn't support it, not that they have to, and as I work from home 98% of the time I am on the network it was a non-starter. My work laptop is all firewalled up with whatever they use and as a family we have a range of free AV solutions depending on who the computer belongs to. AVG is very good and I am sure there will be people along to tell you how to download it soon.

The best free anti-virus out there is AVAST. I used Norton in the past and found it wasn't fool-proof but have never had a problem with AVAST in over 4years.

    Thanks for that help.
I think this would be better than all the change to a new router.

Every time BT send me a new Home Hub, I Freecycle it.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
