Electron woes

My current bank account comes with a Visa Electron card.

Now I can be a bit of a card snob and detest electron cards. I have had the account now fror approx 18+ months.

I have been sent a guaranteed acceptance application for a CC from the bank for using my account well. No charges, od etc.

Phoned to see if they could change my electron to a visa debit and they turned me down!

Why would they offer me a cc for good use of my account and then refuse to give me a visa debit?

I'm a bit miffed to say the least!

check your " gaurenteed acceptant letter" sometimes in small print it will still state " subject to credit check"

I used to have 2 accounts with abbey and had a normal debit card on one account and took years to get the other one changed over.

Its guaranteed subject to "routine fraud and anti money laundering checks" so considering I'm not a master monetary criminal I would assume that acceptance would be guaranteed whether or not my credit was appalling (which it generally isn't).

I still don't see what the issue is with issuing me with a visa debit because I am well on with managing my account.

Its nothing against electron. I'm just a card snob!

why not apply for some other account with visa debit?

I generally have no issues with abbey and I do have another account with visa debit with bank of scotland. The problem being I cannot stand bank of scotland and am in the process of clearing the overdraft and transferring everything to my abbey account. It might just be because I'm only depositing 250 a month into abbey, as I use this for my spending.

I suppose I shall just continue to moan about having electron for a bit longer. Maybe once I've transferred everything over they might give me it
