Natwest want £1800 from me but owe me over £2500? Help!

Hi guys and girls
Last August I sent my letters into Natwest claiming around £2500 of unfair bank charges thanks to this website. I recieved the usuall fob-off that they wouldnt look into the matter until the test case had been resolved and I left it at that, whilst keeping my eye on this site for news.
Since then, my £1500 overdraft has been incurring charges, I do not use this account anymore (setup an A&L account instead) and now Natwest are writing letters to me saying that since that time I have incured another £350 worth of charges for being overdrawn and then being overdrawn on my overdraft (due to their charges taking me over my overdraft limit). They say that I owe them £1850-ish, yet I am saying that they owe me £2500+this new £350-ish...
I dont class myself in financial hardship, I am a 29 year old mature student who works 2 days per week and who claims student finance. I am just about able to cover my mortgage and all my house bills, but I am certaily not able to find £1850 in a hurry....
Can anyone help me here....I really dont know what to do. Natwest arent going to settle the overdraft and pay me what I say they owe me, but I presume they are going to try and get me to clear my account out.
Any advice/help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Cris

yes, write to natwest and state you are awaiting for the decison of the OFT test case issues. Once that has been resolved you will settle any outstanding issues with NatWest. However, since it hasn't you are unwilling to discuss the matter further and the account is disputed.0

HSBC sold my cc debt onto a dca. The dca phoned me in December 2007. I simply told them, I was in litigation with HSBC so they will not be receiving a further penny from me, until the test case is concluded. Have not heard from them since.
HSBC owe me £3,454 in charges, inc. interest.
Paid them £150 in July 2007.0 -
Hi natweststaffmember
Had a reply from Natwest today, heres what it says:
"Thank you for your letter regarding your account. I am sorry you were unhappy with the service you recently recieved, however grateful you took the time to write and explain why.
I have reviewed your account and I can confirm that the charges applied are correct and taken in line with the Bank's published tarriff. I strongly recommend that you contact Collections to discuss a suitable repayment proposal, failure to do so will result in default procedures continuing and your account being closed and transferred to the Bank's recovery department."
Any thoughts or suggestions of where I should go from here?
As I have stated before, I am claiming over £2500 in charges from Natwest, Natwest are currently after £2000 for my overdraft.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

The ruling has not been decided on unfair bank charges yet.
So they do not owe you this money until a court says so.
It is possible that the ruling could go the other way !!!!!
Too many people are totally convinced that they are going to get this money back and it might just not happenmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Until the decision is made the Bank cannot ask for what they believe to be their money either since the amount is still subject to the OFT test case issues and therefore the amount is in dispute. The ruling has not been decided on unfair bank charges yet.

The original letter that they sent to me was addressed as a Collections Centre in Birmingham, so I would have sent it to that address.
Any further ideas?
Thanks again

Nah, definitely not write to them(birmingham Collections), I would write to the address where you were incurring the charges and maybe make them an offer of £1.00 per month until the conclusion of the OFT test case when you can make formal arrangements over it
.
Send a copy of the letter to the address where you received responses from last year and include copies of their letters so there is no doubt what you mean.
The response you got was quite frankly nonsense from the bank.0 -
Thanks for the quick reply

Ill get on with that and let you know what they reply with
