Halifax Online - How do I withdraw?

Last year I opened a Regular Saver and a Guaranteed Saver.
Halifax also opened a nominated account (Web Saver) but I've never deposited into that.

The Guaranteed Saver has matured and I want to get the money back to my Nationwide current account before moving it to a Skipton Fixed Rate account.

I wasn't able to transfer out from the Guaranteed Saver, so was told to move the money to the Web Saver, which I did.
But I can't seem to transfer money to my Nationwide current account from the
Web Saver either.

Can I solve this problem without going into a branch?

There's a menu on the left of the page when you're logged into your account, and you should be able to see "transfers, direct debits, pay bills and standing orders". If you click on that you should be able to set up an external payment to Nationwide.

Thanks, but I've tried that and both the GS and WS accounts are saying that those types of accounts can't transfer out.

I've recently transferred my matured RS out of the Web Saver, admittedly that was to my Halifax Current Account, but I've just checked online and I could also have transferred out of the Web Saver if I'd needed to. Have you got the option to "create new payment" once you've clicked on the transfers option?

I've transferred out of a Guaranteed Saver previously. Not tried it on a Web Saver yet.

If in doubt ring online banking helpdesk on 0845 602 0000 (24 hour support).

You should be able to create a payment in a Web Saver and send it to an external provider.

Guaranteed Saver seems to be a little more archaic.

I do transfers from my accounts all the time. They key is to use a current account. I have a web saver to and to move the money, I first transfer from the web saver to the current account (which is instantaneous) then transfer to wherever I want it to go (which can be 2 hours if the outside bank supports faster payments. To my knowledge, you can't transfer from the web saver to an account outside of Halifax through using the functions of online banking.

So what I would do in your position is transfer your money to a Halifax current account, then pay your Nationwide account.

    Hope that helps.

Yes you can, but it will go via BACS and not Faster Payments.

I'm trying to do the same without any luck so far. All the money from the Regular Saver has transferred automatically and is now sitting with the original deposit in my Guaranteed Saver account.

I can't see anyway of getting the money from the Guaranteed Saver into my (non-Halifax) current account online. I just get this message: "Bill payments and other transfers cannot be set up on this account."

Open a Web Saver, transfer the funds in to that and then move outwards and onwards from there. It'll take about a minute to open the account (that pays 2.5% fixed for a year if there's more than £1 in it).

If you have any problems with the transfer, ring 08457 263646 to get them to do it by phone.

If you have any other problems with the online system ring 0845 602 0000.
