Laptop Insurance for a laptop i purchased in Malaysia

Please can anyone help, i purchased a laptop in Malaysia and now i am struggling to insure it, the first issue i have is that most of the insurance companies state that the laptop must have been purchased in the UK, the second issue i have is that i am travelling and have a year left of my travels and the insurance companies only give roughly 90 days worldwide cover.

The laptop is a Sony and it is standard specification.

I would appreciate any ideas

Do you need to insure it? If you bought it in Malaysia and you are taking it with you as you travel, I assume you didn't pay very much for it - perhaps the best thing is just to put the money aside to buy a replacement if it does get stolen/damaged.

Yes i am looking to insure it, it was a birthday present and it was nearly 800 pound as its only been out for a couple of weeks, so i would prefer to insure it for peace of mind, but it seems this may not be possible!!!

If the lap top you have is a UK spec lap top and you have proof of purchase it is probably not a problem, but check with the Insurers and also check that they are covering you if you are travelling for a long time
