Who's responibility is the Meter?

I recently changed to Powergen for my Gas (and Electric) Supply. Now my meter has started making funny noises, as if the dials are rubbing when the heating or hot water is on. I know it's not linked to the supply change, but who do I contact about it? Is it British Gas because they have responsibility for the hardware, or is it Powergen? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

  • Transco should be able to help.

  • Look at the meter it should say 'property of xxxx' that will be the 'owner' of the meter so therefore their responsibility, I would contact them, powergen are your billing company.
  • you will need to contact your supplyer as they need to book a job with transco for you. transco will not come out and do any meter job (unless its an emergercy) unless they supplyer requests it....,.
