I've just got an olympus digi camera which came with its own software-camedia master. Do i need to uninstall my other photo software ? I have adobe p/shop and picasa. Which would be best to keep ?-should I stick with the olympus bundle??help!!

I have never used any of this software before as we had no digital camera.

Personally I have never installed the software that was supplied with my Sony camera.
I prefer to use the programs I already have and am familiar with such as Psp and Picasa, unless of course you need to install it to do something swish like create panorama shots.I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0 -
Agreed - in fact, Picasa 2 is a very nifty piece of software, especially as it's free! Very much in the spirit of MSE!"Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0

So do i assume that you dont need to use the software that comes with the camera unless you need to do some magic tricks with your pictures, and that picasa is the dogs bits? Could I get rid of photoshop and camedia?0

I don’t think you would ‘need’ to install the camera software, but no doubt you will need some way to edit/catalogue your photos, its horses for courses.
Picasa2 is a very good tool for keeping a track on where you photos are and provides simple editing tools.
Paint Shop Pro (Photoshop in your case) provides you with all the technical tools you would ever need but can be very difficult to work with.
Why not install the Camedia Software along with what you already have and try it, if you don’t like the way it works uninstall it, if you do like it use it, it's mostly down to personal preferences.I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0 -
In my (somewhat limited) experience, digital cameras come with two bits of software.
The first eases the download of photos to your PC, and sometimes logical filing and albums.
The second is a Lite version of manipulation software, or sometimes a time limited version.
I've found it best to use the first, and then decide on the editing software you like best.
I'm trying PSP10 just now and it seems fine for around £50.
Used a free copy (Magazine giveaway) of Micrografx Picture Publisher 8 for many years and liked it.Neil0
