A&L+balance transfer card+ cancelling application for virgin card?

I have just been accepted for an A&L premier direct current account.

I noticed as I was applying that they also had a 12 months interest free balance transfer account.

Unfortunately Ive also just applied for the virgin balance transfer card. I havent heard back from them yet but I am stoozing and since htey do 16 months it would be great if I could do 12 months on the A&L followed by 16 months with them.

So,
1) Can I cancel the virgin application
2) If I cancel the virgin application does that mean I am unlikely to be able to get it in a years time?
3) When I signed up to the A&L account I ticked 'no' when htey asked about the credit card but can I just contact them and say Ive changed my mind?
4) If I do (3) above will it trigger another credit check?

I wouldn't rock the boat if I was you.

Yes you'll pay 4% (for your SBT) on Virgin, but it still works out to (approx) 3% APR...the same as the MBNA run A&L card's SBT fee.

But to answer your specific questions:

    1) Yes.
    2) No.
    3) Yes.
    4) Yes.

    Thanks for your reply :)

What is an SBT? (sorry fairly new to all this)

Also, if i phone up to cancel before they accept me, does that mean they wont have done the balance transfer yet so I wont have to pay a fee?

I think I might just not rock the boat though, as you say. I'm sure at teh end of 16 months there will be other long term balance transfer offers.

SBT = super balance transfer, ie transferring cash off the card (at 0%) and into your current account.

However, it seems like you're simply balance transferring an existing credit card debt? If so, surely it makes sense to pay 2.98% (on Virgin) for 16 months as opposed to 3% (on A&L) for only 12 months? That's why I suggested to leave things be.
