HSBC Bank Charges

First off I'd to apologize if this has already been discussed lots of times.

I'm quite confused by the current status of claiming the bank charges. I'm a student and partly due to the current financial climate I've been unable to find a job. Being able to claim these charges now would be an exceptional help to my situation.

I've managed to be charged for £230 worth. I've already contacted HBOS and they said that as it's currently in court I have to wait until it's finished.

My question is; on the front page it states that a House of Lords hearing is under way. Is this the final step? It's been a long while and I'm beginning to need this money more and more.

Thanks in advance.

  • You can ask whatever question you like to be honest and I am sure I would answer it 99 times out of 100. HoL deciding whether terms in bank contracts can be assessed for fairness. Once that is done the OFT should they win will ask for voluntary compliance or back to the courts it will go.

Sounds like a procedure that could take a while if it can constantly be disputed. When can I realistically expect a defined resolution?
