Depends what you are going to be doing on linux. 10GB is more than enough for a basic install and then servers which will be active...
If your going to be doing things with videos/music or other large files you may need more..
5gb would be enough for the basics I think! Check which version of linux you want (I recommend Fedora Core). Then in the installation instructions they will have minimum and recommended spec information so best checking there.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

also will my wireless adsl router work with linux?0 -
5gb is loads for Ubuntu, add extra space depending on your mp3/photo needs etc (btw I whole heartedly reccomend Ubuntu). Try Ubuntu live first and see if you like it.
You will need to have a seperate partition for linux. So if your C: drive takes up all your hard disk space you will have to use partition magic or something like that.
As for your wireless card, tell us what it is. Some will be supported automatically, some via something called ndiswrapper. If its not USB you will most likely be fine.

yeah, i've ordered ubuntu on a disk
the router is bt voyager 2100 wireless adsl which is connected to my pc by ethernet and has wireless connection to another pc (but i only want linux on my computer lol)0 -
Ethernet connection will be detected straight away, your settings will be on the router.
Did you order from the Ubuntu site? Coz if you did it could take a while. Can you get someone to burn you a copy? If you cant i can send one to you.
Google "ubuntu guide" for some great tips!

The x86 version (sorry typo before) is the one you need for all intel chips, (Also most AMD chips will take this). From the Ubuntu site
"For almost all PCs. This includes most machines with Intel/AMD/etc type processors and almost all computers that run Microsoft Windows. Choose this if you are at all unsure."
Cheers,
