Wanna move back from TalkTalk to BT...

So have been with talktalk now for about 3 years and feel like we need a change, especially as our wireless router is getting on a bit and we need a new one, so we wanna go back to BT on the Home and Away plan as Hubby often needs the laptop for work, so the dongle and free wifi minutes would come in handy, but would we need to pay the reconnection charge??

Any help or advice would be appreciated

There is no reconnection charge going back to BT if your line is current and working.
so don't cancel anything with Talk Talk just get BT to take over the line. (if you cancel with talk talk and are on the LLU network you will have pay to reconnect the line) so quite important you do not cancel with Tal Talk direct.
  • would you enter a new 12/18 month contract though with BT if switching over from talktalk?

Maybe if you ring TT and tell them about the router problem, they may offer you a new one for free to retain your custom.

They gave me one, for an 18 month extension, when my old contract ran out.

I expect they would require you to extend your contract with them but, if you are on one of TT's cheaper deals, then moving to BT will almost certainly cost you more per month.

    Hi Beanbag,

As skyo says as long as your line remains active there will be no cost for you to return your service to BT. You'd need to speak to the TalkTalk retentions team to let them know you want to leave, then speak to the BT Options team about a reverse migration back onto their network (also called return to donor). The process takes about 10-14 days all in. You will be entering into a new contract with BT by returning a service to them.

If you are only changing to get a new router then its worth speaking to the retentions team to see if they can offer anything for a contract renewal. TalkTalk have different retentions offers on from month to month and offers in the past have included free or discounted wireless routers. Theres also a new plan available now called myTalkTalk. You can add boosts to this plan to customise it to your needs. If you'd like any info on this please let me know.

    Cheers
