    Does that mean his paying too much tax
    we havnt got his p60 yet would it be on that?
    and could you give me the number to ring just in case we need to ring them

    No, if anything it means that he may be paying too little tax if there is an allowance in his code which he is not due.

    The higher the mumber of the code, the less tax will be paid, unless the code starts with a K.

    The breakdown of the code will not be shown on the P60. The breakdown of the code is shown on the P2 Notice Of Coding that HMRC send you when a code is changed.

    Look here for a number for your OH's tax office. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/local/individuals/index.htm

    If you don't know which office deals with his records, then ring any one of them and they willg eive yout he correct number to ring.
