Need a new wired modem

I am on AOL and have the BT Voyager 190 ADSL that they gave me when I went to broadband.

It has now started overheating after about 15 minutes which is really annoying. I have already typed this twice and it shut down as I was trying to submit .

Can anyone recommend something easy to just plug in and go, I can't be bothered messing about with it, but I am really sick of this one going down all the time.

Thank you

Can go wrong with a Netgear DG834. Superb piece of kit.

I have a Voyager 210 you would be welcome to. I no longer use it at all.

Why do you want a Modem a router is basicly the same with more features. If you are worried about wireless security most modern router will allow you to turn this feature off. Thw other advantage of a modern router will be to have more than one pc connected to the net in you house. You might not want it now but who knows in the future.

People say this a lot, however my DG834 V2 was dogged with problems, constant crashing and having to be restarted every 10 to 60 minutes.
It overheated like a !!!!! and had to be retro fitted with a fan.
God help me if I was ever searching for games servers for CS, TFC, Quake, etc etc. It would last about 3 minutes with that sort of traffic.
Netgear had litterally thousands of complaints and seemingly refused to do anything other than removing the complaints from their forums.

It'd be nice to think they've sorted them out, but I for one will NEVER go back to Netgear for anything.....

The reason for its crashing were as follows:

    1) overheating.
    2) not enough memory for the DNS cache, just 17mb.
    3) could only handle a limited number of connection before it just died.

I now use a BT Homehub with hacked firmware for security..

The great thing with the Homehub is when it can handle no more connections it just sits and waits until more ports are available, it never crashes.

Thank you all for the offers and advice.

I followed 456789's advice and phoned AOL and after offering me several upgrades I didn't want, they finally agreed to send me a new router free of charge.

So thanks all, you've saved me a lot of hassle
