When you can log on I would suggest running a error checking to see if that resolves it.
Can you post your pc spec and are you running windows xp?Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 0650 -
This is a real long shot but I had similar problems with a freezing mouse pointer for months and months, after doing a complete reinstall the problem persisted, in desperation I started to look for loose connections inside the case and came across the ‘The Bulging Capacitor Problem’ which in my case were leaking a brown gunge.
Have a look here for some photos:-

After a new motherboard was fitted everything returned to normal.I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0 -

running windows ME on a Pentium III with 64Meg RAM.
can't see any burns inside.
Thankyou for your help :¬)0 -
What all are you trying to run when it starts up 64Mb RAM is tiny nowadays. Do you have enough free disk space for the swap file. I would first try putting in the Windows disk and ask it to do a repair and if that doesn't do any good I would rebuild the hard disk from clean (after backing up any data of course).
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Lol @ 64mb RAM you deffo wnat to up that by 256mb at least.0

It *should* run on 64MB RAM. I can remember running 98SE on 64MB RAM.
I would download ccleaner and clean your HDD. Right click on C:\ and see how much free space you have.
If you have plenty of HDD space you could always try increase the size of the page file.
You can also turn auto-reboot off somehow, not sure in ME as I've not used it in ages.0
