What would I be able to claim?

Hello, am a newbie to this board so please be gentle with me.

My oh and I may be separting and I need to find out what I would be entitled to claim.

We have 4 children aged 7, 5, 3, 1 who would be staying with me. I currently don't work.

We have a mortgage on the house.

How do go about finding all the info I need?

Thanks

    Hi and welcome Catpaws.

A good place to start is Entitled To (just google it). Have your figures to hand and it will give you a good idea of what you can claim. I don't know exactly how accurate it is (see my post on the board), but apparently it is pretty good. I know it is recommended on the Forums here.

I am sorry to hear of your sad news. Your children are very young. Have you posted on the Family/relationships board too. I know they are a great bunch over there.

Another place to try might be the CAB and I think some solicitors will give you 30 mins free too.

Good luck and I really hope things work out for you.
YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

really....it's not hard to understand :T

With the Income support comes free school meals for the older kiddies, and you also get free prescriptions, dental and optician.

My first action when this happened last year was to call the benefits helpline and my initial claim was made over the phone for IS. I then had to go in for an appointment to check the forms and sign. I then made an application to the council re the CTB.. and it is left up to you to phone CTC as the departments are all seperate.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!
