Well I took your advice and phoned Lloyds last night to try and find out if anything has been done about this. The woman I spoke to seemed quite nice and concerned. She took my details and asked why I wanted to cancel the loan. She then gave me the number for the loans call centre.
The woman there was unhelpful. She asked if I had sent a cheque to pay off the amount of the loan because I wanted to cancel. I asked her about the 30 day cooling off period and she said if I wanted to cancel then I would have to pay the loan off in full.
So now basically I have to get an appointment with the branch manager to sort this out. My hubby was there with me when I agreed to take the loan. I'm wandering what will happen if the salesperson lies about what she told us. Who is the branch manager going to believe? Does anybody know if I can take this higher if the branch manager doesn't agree to revert me back to my previous loan? I do think I have been mis sold this loan as the woman didn't seem competent and hasn't done things she said she was going to do.
If I can't take it higher, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and get on with it and be really cheesed off at the fact I've been stung.
If they don't fix this, I'm seriously thinking about opening an account with a new bank. Does anyone have any recommendatios for a decent bank? lol. xx0 -
The branch will help you to unwind the loan.
As long as you have not spent the money you will be ok.
If you do get any bother then point out the interest rate you were paying on the card and what they want to charge you now on the loan and ask for a justification of why they recommended this loan to you.0 -

They only gave me enough money to pay of the credit card so I'm hoping they can simply add the balance back onto the credit card oh and to pay off the existing loan.
I phoned Lloyds today to get an appointment with the branch manager. The woman has given me an appointment for 4pm tomorrow (although not with the branch manager). I will let you all know how I get on. I have actually been losing sleep over this. I'm sooooo angry.

Well, I'm just back from the branch and guess what?????? They don't deal with this either. I explained my situation the woman and asked her if she thought I had been given a bum deal (not in so many words). She said she couldn't possibly comment!!! What a surprise lol.
The woman has taken notes on why I believe I have been mis-sold this loan and she has got to phone the loans department and they have to deal with it. This is Lloyds all over. Anyway, they have 5 days to respond to my complaint. So now I have to wait again!!!!!!
On the PPi front, I got a bog standard letter from them telling me that they aim to resolve my complaint within 8 weeks, blah blah.0 -
good luck
you have to dispair at some of these organisations ..0 -
thanks, it's like they put you on a merry go round. Nobody wants to help you and it's never their department blah blah blah.0

Unless things have changed in the last 9 months or so, it is the branch who should help you unwind the loan. I'm surejonesMUFCforever can confirm this.
This is one of the many reasons I left LTSB after I finished being an employee.Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!0 -
thanks mrmajika. I'm seriously thinking about changing banks myself. I can't understand how much hassle I've had trying to fix this and anyone at the bank you talk to just refers you to someone else. What sort of way is that to run a business? The woman at the bank was adamant that she wasn't in a position to help and it had to be referred to one of their loan departments. She assures me I will have a response from them in 5 days and there will be a designated person dealing with this. We'll see.0

Further to your PM I agree the branch who SOLD the loan to you should help you unwind it. If they refuse then honestly google the phone number of the chairman 's office and I guarantee that this will be resolved pronto.
This is the sickening face of banking today - all nice and helpful when you are buying something from them but as helpful as a chocolate teapot when you want help.
Carry on with your complaint - you will win.0 -
Thanks Jones,
Do you think I should contact the branch again then? or wait and see if I get a bog standard reply within the 5 working days from the 'loans department'?
Do you think they have just fobbed me off yet again?
Why would she say that she couldn't deal with it? I also asked her for a copy of what she was going to tell the loan department. She has gave me a copy of what my main issues were, she hasn't signed it but at least it's another reference for me.
These people are taking the pure and utter Michael!!!! And yet I am still falling for their bulls*it. They must love people like me.
If I get whats his names number - Flank??? Do you know if I would be put through directly or would a receptionist just fob me off??
Thanks.
