Hiya, it's me again lol.
Ok, I've checked the track and trace on royal mail and they received my letter on 02/07/09. How long do you thing is a fair timescale to give them to reply to my letter? That's been a week now and haven't heard anything. Do you think I should give them another 7 days before I make further contact about cancelling this loan? x0 -
Did you willingly sign up to the PPI on the original loan?
I've just done a reclaim with Lloyds for PPI on a loan for miselling as they told the client that it was conditional to them getting the loan.
The reclaim has just wiped the entire loan out plus interest - and Lloyds have ended up clearing the loan and writing the client a cheque for the balance. The whole process took three months."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
hi mrcow,
this is my fourth loan with them since 2003 or thereabouts I think they always invite me in and get me to consolidate. I have sent away a letter to request the contracts for my last 3 loans as I really can't remember being asked about PPI.
In regards to the most recent loan-the one I'm trying to cancel - The woman said 'do you just want to carry your PPi on from your previous loan?'. I stupidly said yes. Then I started to study forums on this website for advice as there were a few other things she said that didn't make sense. Therefore I assumed that they have added this on last time and perhaps the two times before that. That's what has made me send away for my other contracts.
To answer your question, I can't remember originally being willingl to accept a ppi.0 -
If you were not asked about PPI and it was just added as standard, then you may have a case for misselling.
Read through the misselling pages on the main site. I personally think you should complain and make a claim.
Edit: And clearly you should cancel your new loan. You've clearly been given some very spurious advice."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
thanks for your advice.
My main concern at the moment is getting this new loan cancelled and reverted back to my old one.
Once I get that sorted and eventually receive my paperwork for my previous loans, I'm gonna pursue with reclaiming PPI's.
thanks again x0 -
Hi again!! lol
I checked my bank account online today and it appears Lloyds had repaid £40 odd quid back into my account on Friday. It is the exact amount that I paid for my first instalment of the PPi so they must have received the letter I sent to cancel that. It was paid back under Lloyds general insurance. I think I may phone them to confirm that this is actually for the PPi as I do actually have a dd that comes off for contents insurance which comes under general insurance.
I'm just waiting to see if they are going to cancel my loan and let me revert back to the previous one. Hopefully will get something in this post this week confirming.
I've never looked so forward to the postie coming apart from when I reclaimed bank charges lol xx0 -
hi there,
I know this thread is for loans but because mine is a mix between that and PPI, I thought I would give you a wee update. I received my two loan agreements for my previous loans and it turns out that I have paid out PPI.
I'm going to send a letter off to try and claim these back. I will post about this in the PPi thread.
Still haven't heard anything about getting my loan cancelled yet x0 -

Why dont you call them and follow up with your written request? They have received your request a week back. You cant simply wait until the end of the cooling period and then panic if something wrong happens! If I was you I would be more proactive in calling the bank.
Keep us updated with the progress and good luck.I am neither a bull nor a bear. I am a FTB, looking for a HOME, not a financial investment!0 -
I did think about calling the bank but I figure if I put everything in writing then I have something to fall back on if you see what I mean. I sent the letter to cancel my loan recorded delivery so that I have a record of them receiving it and signing for it. I'm concerned that if I do it over the phone that I will just get fobbed off and passed from pillar to post. I'm gonna give it until the end of the week and then send another letter I think. Thanks for your input and advice x0
