Apologies to the 10 who have read this. Have after 6 weeks found that another program, Nvidia, has a Mouse section which I have now successfully deactivated! I was looking to adjust the screen brightness at the time.........
Hi
Every time I reboot I find that Active Window Tracking is activated. As a result any window that is not maximised disappears behind one that is, when the cursor moves away. I am running XP SP2 with a PS2 mouse
What I have done.
Installed TweakUI. I can turn off Activation follows mouse successfully here, but it is reapplied on every boot. Uninstalling Tweak doesn't help. It wasn't installed when, presumably an update, imposed this on the poor thing.
Ensured that the ActiveWindowTracking in the Mouse Registry (REG_DWORD) is set to 0. This doesn't change on reboot and remains at 0 although activated.
The mouse is operating on a standard MS driver.
Has anyone experienced this before, or can a guru suggest how I stop it reactivating on reboot? Thanks

Do you have a item in your control panel called Nvidia Nview?
If you have click it, disable the nview desktop manager.0
