Essential programmes after reload?

Hi All,just done a windows reload due to problems so i now have an out of the box laptop.Could i have suggestions for essential security and maintenance programmes please (preferably free!) Thanks in advance.

anti virus - avira/avast
firewall - pc tools,
anti spyware - superantispyware
malware - malwarebytes
just for added measure - ccleaner

In order I would go with...
Fresh install of XP
Windows installer 3.1
All drivers
Windows update
SP3
Download Internet Explorer 8 and install
Rest of updates (but not .NET 3.5)
.NET 3.5 pack
Antivirus (Avast)
Choice of web browser > add-on's (Opera or Firefox, flash, Java)
Mail client (if needed) (Thunderbird)
PDF reader (Foxit reader)
Office (OpenOffice)
Then everything else.0 -
Install, use the firewall, the protection built into Windows. Then download updates through Windows Update. Whilst that's happening download the following:
