E-cheque's basically a Paypal cheque. It'll clear into your account in about 10 days, and then you send the item. Basically, the buyer paid using a bank account, not a debit / credit card, so it takes a few days for Paypal to get the money from the bank, and then to give it to you.

It might be worth messaging the buyer about it, they might not know they've e-chequed you, and will wonder in a week's time where their item is.

    What is an eCheque?

eCheques are payments from buyers who have attached their bank details to their PayPal account, but do not have a valid backup funding source such as a credit or debit card. It may also be that their backup card has expired. So to ensure that a secure payment can still made, an eCheque is generated.
Sending an eCheque is a bit like sending someone a paper cheque, only it is done electronically. And because it is processed by PayPal, the payment is also protected and the sender and recipient do not need to share their financial details.

interesting this as my paypal is funded via a direct debit with my bank but I also have a card on file but given the amount of cards i go through I highly doubt this card still works. Still my payments go as transfers. Ah well.

Paypal like to entertain themselves by randomly sending echeques from time to time with no explanation and no word to the buyer, who assumes that an instant payment has been made.

Paypal now email you when your credit card expires, so buyers' excuses for 'not knowing' are starting to look more flimsy.
