sorry ive not replyed to all of your great advice ive been at work all weekend, ill try to work through things a bit at a time
elec and gas i am currently paying back a deficite that i built up over the winter my new partner moved in with me and she has two children who stay with me for 3 days a week and stupidly i never upped my direct debit, head in the sand i know!! oh and i have chosen combined bill direct debit and this was chosen from uswitch at the time once i have worked of the debt i will look again for better deals at a greater comsumption.

150 a week is how i calculated it and is that really a lot for a house hold with 2 adults all week and 3 kids 50% of the week?

saterlite cable £40 this includes telephone and line rental and internet! if i swap i will only save a few pounds!!!

tv licence i payed annually until this time just came up so i think you pay double for a bit for 6 months at least?

im on cotract and will go pay as you go as soon as

my 240 child care is matanance to my ex for my son

i earn to much to get child tax credit only one of the children is mine and he dosent saty here to much (unfortunatly) but i cant affor to fight that either!!!

meal planning sounds greta but when you dont have a big fridge and lots of space its not so easy,

i live in a privatly rented 2 bed flat and thank god the rent is capped by some sort of covenant so its amazingly cheep same flat over the road 550 pcm

and just prove what a plonker i am to my detriment i am a trying to quit smoker!!!, and my partner is due to have another baby, on the up side i got some over time this week and once the baby is here and i have bonded for a few weeks i can go out and work on my days off,

guys you are amazing and your help and support is greatly appreciated

    Hi Dan

You have done well to get this far. It is not easy to bear all financially like this & I would firstly like to say `well done`.

I assume that as your partner is expecting the baby that your joint income will be reducing.?.

Take advice from the debt charities. CCCS are appointment based & take ages to get an appointment however there is CCCS `debt remedy` online on their website & it gives an indication. Nat Debtline can speak to you immediately. There is CAB if you prefer to speak face to face.

Reading your SOA it is a close call & will be tight with a baby on the way & maybe reduced income but hang on in there Honey. Don`t be too quick to discount the bankruptcy route & please don`t be frightened by it either. BTW - your partners money is her money & not affected by BR. See what the debt charities suggest & take it from there.

Congrats on the baby & good luck.

    (snip)

meal planning sounds greta but when you dont have a big fridge and lots of space its not so easy,

Even if you can't batch cook much, meal planning on a weekly basis will save you money because you only buy what you need - you shouldn't be throwing food away at the end of the week.

Start by doing an inventory of what you have in the cupboards - there's probably loads in there already, which you can work your way through.

Staples like oats, lentils, beans, grains etc. are filling and cheap. You can bulk out sauces, stews and soups with these and veggies... but the old style board is the place to go.

If you have some freezer space then there are certain recipes that can be put to multiple uses (like mince n onions, or bolognese sauce) so you could concentrate on those.

So reckon you could def get your weekly bill in well under £100...

    Good luck!

There are some families budgeting with £200pm for groceries adn a few on less than that. If you are selective of what you but and where you shop, you may be surprised at how much the bill may come down.

A spending diary would make you more aware of when you spend money and what it's on. There have been lots of people shocked a how much the spend each month on latte's and coffee. Quite a few make their own at home now and take a thermos in. It all adds up and the more we can knock off that monthly defecit, the better.

Hi. You need to find an additional 770 a month to break even from cutting back/second job and switching your highest debt from virgin to barclaycard or hsbc.
If you still can't break even you may want to consider a debt management plan or an IVA or bankruptcy.
A DMP might suit you as you have nearly 200 a month spare at the moment and with some cutting back you should be able to up that- even with taking into account extra costs for the baby.
Have you spoken to one of the free organisations eg CCCS/ CAB./ National Debtline at all regarding all the different options?
    Good Luck

Hi all just wonted to update and ask for some more advice

Latest news is my partner has been payed out on her divorce settlement

All my debts have been cleared in full

we have some money left for a deposti on a house however!

even though i contacted all of my debters before i went into arreas with a full break down of my income and expediture then with what was left each month i offed them payments on a pro rata basis. 2 from 6 accepted this however the other 4 took the payments and ruined my credit history.

so now i have very poor rating even though i never lost contact with any of them and tried to make payments where i could.

My question is, how can i or where can i get a mortgage offer from we wont to buy a house of about 150,000 we have a 30,000 deposit and i earn 30,000 a year and my partner earns 8,000

what are my chances, i am aware and fully expect to have to wait but any sujestion would be welcome

    thx again guys

I'm not sure you would get one just now, have you put the deposit into as a high an interest savings account as you can?
Great news all your debts have been cleared :D
