Bank still wanting me to phone after BR

One of my creditors, one of the banks phoned me this morning, wanting a loan arrears payment, you are such and such in arrears and i am phoning to take a payment over the phone type of call, i got the feeling they had had the OR's letter as he was being very nice and actually asked for an awful lot less than the arrears, i went through the whole rigmeroll of what had happened and how i had tried all ways to avoid BR which was true i had, he seemed to accept what i told him, said the account would be now frozen and all the rest of it, even apologised for one dept within the bank that had threatened me, saying within all establishments arrears went to outreach places, so all seemed to end well, i gave him the details, the BR number and so forth and it ended with him confirming my mobile no i thought that strange as he really said that was that, then a few hours later i got a text telling me to phone the bank immediately on an 0845 number, can i just leave it now to the OR as i am sure they had her letter.
what do you make of it ?
Thanks in advance.

It is illegal for a creditor to harrass a BR, so in the first instance I would of refused to go throgh security with them. Secondly it is also illegal for you to make any kind of payment, as your estate is now administered by the OR now. ( favours one creditor over another ) Not that you were going to make any kind of payment anyway!
But why oh why did you give them your mobile number? You are just asking to be pestered. And why also give the bank your lifestory? None of their goddamn business. Leave everything to the OR now, and tell them to whistle dixie for it. They were just trying it on anyway.
You seem a nice person, try being a little bit abrupt or you will be hassled from here to eternity whilst the OR sorts out your estate. ......and no more giving out your mobile numbers!!!
  • They already had my mobile number, he just said it and said was that right he had just phoned it. I just confirmed it was.
You are right though, i am too soft, that is how all this has gone on for over 10 years. I have another SIM card, i think i will put that in the phone, just get shut.
    Thanks.

OP - you do not have to explain your reasons for BR to anyone, least of all a stranger on the end of the phone; no matter how nice they are. Your reasons are yours alone and none of their business.

Ignore the text - delete it so you do! If they phone again tell them to contact your OR as you are no longer legally responsible for your debts and then hang up. They will eventually get the idea.

Quite right too. Also beware of bribery, they may offer to reduce some of the debt in return for a small payment. I get Lot's of this skullduggery;)

If it is illegal (as above), then tell the bank so.
By letter (don't waste your money returning their call).

i have several numbers on my mobile flagged "block", if they ring i just press the red button...

get caller id and "no witheld numbers accepted" on your landline (with a phone to display incoming calls) eventually they get the message, mine are stupid sales calls, windows, dell, pitney bowes (dont ask me why or what for), etc, etc
