Self Employed to Unemployed JSA claim

hello,

my claim has now taken over 7 weeks because i was self employed.
still being decided but i have read it could be refused as i only paid
the basic national insurance class 2. I have made a claim for income based
job seekers allowance but now hear from this board that if my income
last year was over a certain amount i might not get JSA.

i have one small child and a wife(who doesnt work)

what is the threshold for income to qualify for income based Job Seekers

Allowance..??

i was employed paye for about 12 years before being self employed for

4.5 years.

Whoever said that is wrong. They are not concerned about your income in the last year, they are concerned about your income now. If you do not have any income now you should be able to claim income based JSA at the full rate as long as your savings are below £6000.

So when i first claimed why did they ask me for all my invoices for the past year ? Of course they are interested in what you have earned just as much as your bank balance.I wish people would check their facts before they give false information out.

healy is correct, JSA is based on current work and income.
    Gone ... or have I?

What I said is correct, I do check my facts and do my best not to give out false information. This information I have provided is not false.

    thank you for your replys.

i have little in the way of savings, my income
last year was very low. My income now is on tax credits
and i really need the JSA urgently but when will i get a clear response.

    who should i phone now?

could they tell me after 10 weeks my claim isn't valid because of my
    national insurance?

it's very hard waiting with no information.

As you are claiming income based JSA it is not based on your National Insurance record.
