Advice on Buying 1st Laptop

Hi I am looking to purchase a laptop mainly for web browsing. I have found this Acer and was wondering if it was any good? Or if I should try something else. Thanks.

Acer don't particularly have a great reputation, they're considered 'flimsy' at best, what's more you're considering a purchase from PC World who are not the best in regards to Consumer Protection, if anything goes wrong you can bet your bottom dollar it will be upto you to fix it as it's nothing to do with them.

What are you going to be using your laptop for? Also, read the existing threads in this forum, there's a few of them today all asking about laptops.

You may consider adopting the advice offered in those.

Generally, if you're travelling it needs to be light, likewise if you're going to be away from electricity it needs a good battery or at least a cheap backup battery, other than that you want one if you're using it outside with a non-reflective screen afterall you don't want the sun bouncing off the screen and directly at you.

Also you can purchase the same laptop as you suggested from tesco's here: http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-3481.aspx at least they know that they maybe liable if something goes wrong with it, unlike pc world, dixons, currys, comet etc who will try and wriggle out of it.

Thanks, this is only a 3GB as opposed to the original 4GB, would that make much difference? like I said it would mainly be for simple web browsing.

If that's all you want it to do you could get a netbook instead.
