Peugeot 406 Gear stick

Try taking it out of first

Seriously, this is probably caused by a worn rubber bush that normally damps it. This will either be at the base of the gearstick or (if you're lucky) just on the gearknob. Does it feel any looser than normal? Can I help?0 -
Thanks rdwarr for your advice. I haven't notice it feeling any looser. Will try and see if I can locate the bush - is it something an amateur can tackle or is it a job for the garage?0

I think it depends on the car. I did it once on a Cortina. On reflection I should have taken it to a garage as the gearstick kept coming off after that and I had to have a big spanner to get into reverse.
See if you can lift the gaiter and work out how the stick is fitted. It may just unscrew in some way.Can I help?0
