London day out - advice

Hi
I am going to London tomorrow with my 6 year old daughter and I would like some advice on the cheapest way to travel around and where to eat.
I am driving to Watford where we are staying overnight Saturday night.
On Saturday we are going into London to the Science museum and want to get something to eat nearby. If my daughter isnt too tired I also might do a show before going back to Watford.
On Sunday I want to spend a bit of time round centre of London just walking and taking in sights - but get some breakfast first! Daughter also wants to see where Great fire started as she is doing it at school!
Thanks
K

Oystercard is always cheapest to use. Under 11s go free, so if you use pay as yo go, it wont go over about £7 for each day I think.
You can buy food at the museum, but it is a bit pricey. Packing a few sandwiches would probably be best, if you can. There is a Pizza Express halfway between South Kensigton Station and Knitsbridge (It'll be a god 5-10 minute walk from the museum though). There are a few other restaurants about, but I havn't been so can't comment.
If you want you can also get the tube to High Street Kensington, where your bound to find a Pizza Hut or something.0 -
Thanks for reply.
The Oyster web page doesnt seem to working correctly for me so can someone tell me where I can buy the Oyster card? Can I get it in Watford or will I have to wait until i get to london (was going to go Watford to Euston station by rail)

Oyster cards do work out a bit cheaper from within London, but check if it's possible / cheaper to just combine a travelcard in with your rail ticket from Watford to Euston. With your rail ticket you'l lbe able to take advantage of the 2-4-1 offers they currently have on a large number of London attractions

If your child is interested in the Great Fire of London a great place to visit is the Museum of London if you have time. Links below

Also climb the Monument, which has undergone a major clean (happens every 150 years) and only re-opened recently. It was originally built to commemorate the fire:

Great views across the city from the top.0 -
If you are getting the train from Watford Junction to Euston it is on the extended LT overground services and costs £8.90 for a daily off peak travel card that covers travel back to Watford Junction and all London tubes and buses for the day zones 1-9. There is a large car park at the station but it is not cheap (about £7) to park for the day there. Your little one will travel free with you. It is about 20 mins on the fast train from Watford Junction to Euston.

My 7 year old loves Kensington Gardens-you can visit the Diana Memorial park (Peter pan theme) and the Prince Albert memorial, see the lovely flower beds, model boats on the pond, plus walk from there into Hyde Park to see the horses and riders on rotten row, the boats on the serpentine. There is also a lido with paddling pool at the serpentine, uusally open weekends from May.0 -
Thanks all - the info was really useful especially the one about the great fire of london exhibition - that was my daughter's highlight of the weekend!!0
