Have I worked out my Maternity Allowance dates right???
Happyfamilies2009
I was made redundant in January 09 whilst on statutory maternity leave due lack of funding. (It was a charity which has now unfortunately closed down so everyone was made redundant.)
However, I was pregnant, very early stages obviously but nonetheless because I suffer from severe sickness in my pregnancies finding work was not very easy. (Couldnt claim job seekers because I was short two months of NI contributions because I'd been at Uni.)
However I've been told I may be able to claim Maternity Allowance starting from 29 weeks of my pregnancy?
I have downloaded the forms and have worked it out that there may be a possibility I could.
Is there anyone out there that could look at my dates and check my calculations please! Pregnancy hormones are making my brain a little fuzzy and I think I've done it right but it is all a little confusing!!!
Baby due 12th October 2009 (so my due week is 11-17th October 2009). Therefore my "test period" for maternity allowance is 6th July 2008 to the 10th October 2009 - and I must have worked 26 weeks out of this 66 week period?
I was on SMP from 6th July ( actually started there Nov 06, smp started 10th April 09) to 15th January 2009 - this apparently classes as in work for Maternity Allowance purposes?
So by my calculations, I just make my 26 weeks by a week or so?
Will this be allowed because it is so near the deadline?
Would be grateful for any advice before I try to get hold of wage slips etc that I never received towards the end of my smp - as I now it wont be an easy task now the company is no longer officailly running etc.
Thanks x

As far as I can see you've worked it out right, and it dosen't matter that you are so close to the limit, you'll still be entitled

Congratulations with the pregnancy!Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -
Thanks for that!! The more I looked at it the more confused I got myself!! Will try to get hold of the wage slips etc and put in a claim.
