My laptop was playing up yesterday, tried to turn it on this morning and was saying something about trojan.zlob
was able to get all my icons up this morning, but wouldn't let me click on to any of them, kept saying something like application not available
Now when I turn on my laptop a page comes up that says "windows error recovery"
Launch startup repair (recommended)
start windows normally
When I click on either one is says "the installed program cannot start.Click OK to turn off the computer"
Please can any one help,Im using my sons pc to write this
Thanks in advance

try booting into safe mode
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm
see if you can use a restore point from a few days ago
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/systemrestore.mspx
if it works then download malwarebyte free
http://malwarebytes.org/
and do a quick scan and then post the log it producesEx forum ambassador

"the installed program cannot start.Click OK to turn off the computer"
The laptop then turn itself off.

Got to have my laptop as Im addicted to this siteJan 2020 Kitten cross stitching0 -
The only possible way around this that I can see is to create a 'bootable antivirus disc'. Which basically means you boot from the disc instead of the harddrive and scan for nasties. That or remove the hardrive completely and scan using another computer:idea:0

otherwise I think you are looking at a reapir of XP using an XP cd , if you don't have one borrow from a friendEx forum ambassador

I would recommend the kaspersky cd over the avira one but still a good call browntoa
or use the recovery cd you got with the laptop unless it didnt come with one, and has a hidden image on the drive. in which case formatting would be a bad idea as the program to do the recovery would be installed after the OS.
but then if that was the case it would have asked you to create a new backup cd when you first had it.0
