Hi there,
I have a 200Gb Maxtor hard disk that is SATA. Unfortunately, having lost my motherboard cd I cannot install the required drivers. Does anyone here have an Optronix motherboard or a link to somewhere that can help?
Many thanks

Cant find you the drivers anywhere
Do you have the manual for the motherboard? It will tell you what 'chipset' it uses.0 -

Hi,
According to the manual it supports VIA PT800+VT8237/VT8235CE chipsets. I can't find the drivers or anything anywhere, and I find it odd since I've had the motherboard over a year. As for the SATA controller, how do I find that out?
Thanks

Right, I installed those VIA drivers and everything went ok, asked to reboot etc. When I go to device manager under the scsi/raid controllers it shows "VIA SATA RAID Controller" with a yellow exclamation mark. When clicking on properties it says this device will not start. I've checked the bios and SATA is enabled, so I'm a bit stuck. I believe i'm right in thinking that I cannot even go about trying to get it to detect my SATA drive until I can get this SATA controller working?
Thanks

Finally found the solution! Having installed the VIA drivers, and got the exclamation mark, I was getting annoyed. Turns out that although SATA disks don't have jumpers for primary/slave etc, they have them for SATA I and SATA II. Mine was set to II whilst my motherboard only supports I. Quick change and all is well.
Many thanks for helping
