having a few problems with pc
somehow ive managed to delete a key windows needs for windows installer, so i cant put anything on my computer like installation cds update java etc,
also it keeps freezing as i turn it on and the only way to get it to work is to switch it off at the wall , which i know does no good in long run!
would i be better off pressing the F10 key to reset it to factory standards and losing everything on there or getting someone to come and look at it????????????
If im better off pressing f10 key could someone provide me with an idiotproof guide please
Thanks for any replies

Anything can be fixed, but if you can boot into it, and backup your data first, the F10 route will probably save a lot of time.0

boot the computer and press F8 key to get into safe mode, should bring up a window with some options,
safe mode with network <aka internet, safe mode <no internet, safe mode command prompt< no windows.
if you can get into safe mode windows, and have an external drive and or internal add on drive, aka another harddrive you bought to give you extra space, backup system, files. in safe mode you can copy / move all the files you downloaded / ripped from cd's extra to this harddrive whether its external
Then you can press the F10 and do the recovery.
You can download windows installer from microsoft thats not a problem,
you havent mention which operating system is installed or what is it, Laptop or Desktop computer0 -
Another option is to boot into safe mode and run a sfc (you have to put in cd), or another one is you can boot from cd and run a repair install (still keeping data) http://www.informationweek.com/news/windows/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=185301251 Or there's another way too with windows rebuild command http://www.informationweek.com/news/windows/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=1853012510
