Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 26th June. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome, so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have screens, or slow internet connections, so please DON'T post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning OS chums! hi.gif

Up early again with toothache.

Halight - Really glad the interview went well!
Taplady - the link HERE gives a place where you can report your sightings of naturalised stick insects (Phasmids) in the UK - a guy is doing a study. It's a quick form and doesn't take long and I am sure he would appreciate knowing you found one and where. Or you can just read about the different types that now live wild in the UK HERE (though you would probably prefer not to -I think it's just me that is excited about finding one!:rotfl:)
Celyn - Wowww that is one gorgeous looking cake!
Pink - Great punishment, he will go to bed wishing he had gone to school :rotfl:
Nic1 - I hope that you get a fast diagnosis and solution honey.
Ruth - So sorry to hear the news about your MIL
Tiredmum - What an horrible time you must all have been having, sending love your way.
lav1979 - Pleased the car is fixed now

My home help is not living the Stardrops dream - she has used it twice and declared that she would prefer to use bleach if I didn't mind. I can't force her to use it but am sad as I waited SO long for our local tescos to actually stock it!

My tooth was hurting so badly yesterday I ended up ringing my dentist to be told they were closed for staff training. I will try again tomorrow. I ended up back on porridge for the day.:rotfl:

We were supposed to get thunder in the afternoon but didn't, so wondering if they will arrive today. My OH watered the garden before he went to work last night just in case. It is pretty cold at present so doesn't feel like thunder storm weather.

My OH bought me some Remote Control plug sockets from Tescos so I can turn the TV off at the plug now which means they don't have to stay on stand by all night which should save money.

Warm gentle hugs.giffor anyone who wants or needs one today.

Diva.x

p.s. I am struggling with my font size.. I usually post 'Comic sans, size 3' but it keeps showing as '2' on the page once it is posted. And size 4 is way too big.. it's like size 3 doesn't exist for me any more! So my compromise is size 2 and bold!
To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.
If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.

Morning MSD & all to follow.

Hope you get through to the dentist today!

Am up earlier than normal as OH told me about MJ when he got in. Very sad, I know the press over the last few years has been bad but I grew up with his music. Was so looking forward to seeing him Jan next year.

Its very humid here and didnt have the greatest nights sleep so no doubt will be crashing out on the sofa later. Before that will get some paperwork, ironing and housework done.

Off to Makro today to stock up on capri sun for the kids packed lunches, will pick up some pate whilst there as it is really lovely.

This week hasnt been pleasant at all and quite unproductive. Will have a chill over the weekend and start afresh monday.

No idea what is for dinner tonight so will have a route around the freezer later.

Off now have a great Friday :j

Oh, have just read that you wont be able to post on the forums from tonight till tomm luchtime - think will get a lot done tomorrow!

    Morning all.

Essex-girl - I, too, feel very sad about MJ; his music has run like a thread through the last few decades. Despite his riches, I always felt really sorry for him - he had no real childhood, and I think that's why he had such a strange lifestyle.

Well, the weather is a bit gloomy here today, after a lovely day yesterday. At least, it will make me stay in and do some housework!

    Hope everyone is well.

PenPin - hope you have a better day today.

MSD - hope you get to see the dentist today.

Dinner tonight is spaghetti bolognaise - something easy!

    Morning everyone.
I don't get the fuss about MJ. His early music was good but it all went downhill after Thriller album. Became less about great music more about plastic surgery and weirdness. Still am sure my opinion is in the minority.
Anyway off to a 1st birthday party this afternoon and got some errands to run this morning so not much OS going on. Postman tried to deliver DD christening dress whilst I was out and so I have to traipse up to the main PO to collect. Am looking forward to seeing what it looks like. Really hope it fits as she's a big girl ;)
Tea tonight might be something with sausage. Have got a hankering for mash, peas and brown sauce :D

MSD - sorry you're still in pain with your tooth. Hope you get seen soon.

Thunder storms predicted here today. Can't wait as I love them.

Have a good day all OS or not.

Edited to add the following as I've only just read the rest of yesterdays thread:

Cyclingyorkie - I grated carrot and added it to tinned toms and garlic chopped and simmered it until the carrot was cooked through. The pureed the mixture until it was fairly smooth. Sauted some chopped onions and diced courgette until soft and added these to the sauce. Poured over cooked pasta and voila :D

Tiredmum - sorry to hear about your DS. I hope they are fair to him and listen to his reasons for being provoked

Noah'sPennilessmummy - my son also does echoalia (sp?). He's got better that he used to but he still does it at least 50% of the time. Hope your migranes stop soon. Is there something triggering it?
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks

    Morning all

I'm with Moliere - Michael Jackson really never really had a chance to grow up and live life normally which surely had something to do with the way he lived his strange life. Saw him with his brothers many many years ago at Wembley.

Don't work Fridays so lots of hoovering, polishing and ironing going on here today. Doesn't look as though I will be hanging any washing out until quite late today because of the thunderstorms, will hold on as I would rather hang it outside than hang it up around the house.

Diva hope you get your tooth sorted ASAP
Tired Mum hope things are a bit clearer today with the school as to what the circumstances were towards the fight ((hugs))

Have a good day all xxxx

    Morning Everyone

It was a complete shocker to hear on the news that Michael Jackson died last night:eek:.I have to admit to not being a great fan of either the man or his music but its a tragedy for any person to die so young and leave behind a young family too.

Its been a manically busy week here and today I am taking a well deserved rest before plunging myself head first into a busy weekend. Its my MD's first communion on Sunday so posh dresses and suits will be donned again:oHopefully the weather will be as kind this time as it was for the Confirmation.Thankfully no cake baking or meals out this time so Sunday should be a lot more chilled

I've done all the cleaning this morning already and the ironing and washing too:TJust Yoghurt Maker and Bread Maker to go on and breakfast pots to be washed.I've stripped the boys beds and their washing is out on the line so I'll remake them in a bit

I'm off to Tesco's in a bit to try and get some of their cheap chickens for the freezer

MSD-Sorry to hear about the tooth.I hope you get it sorted today

Pen-Pin-Sorry to hear you have been feeling rough again.I hope you are feeling better today

    Morning Everyone.

Its a very long time since I posted on the daily. So hi to anyone who remembers me and a big hello to all the people who have joined since I last posted.

I'm back on the OS wagon in a big way. Money is tight and about to get tighter as my sister has to move back in with us for a couple of months while she get her life sorted as shes been through a big relationship breakup.

OS plans for today are to get this house cleaned up this morning while DD is at pre-school and then this afternoon I'm helping out at the local toddler group then going to Aldi to pick-up some bits.

    Have a good day everyone

    Morning all

Think we are in for a drop of the old wet stuff today  dull, misty and a bit cool.

WM doing its stuff, will it dry who knows  need to run round with the vac and whizz the duster round, then need clean patio doors, there are tiny finger prints all over them....hmmm wonder where they came from.....;)

OH was hoping to finish painting the facia boards and soffitts(sp)? today looks dodgy....think I will get him up in the loft to clear up some stuff.....

Porridge or toasted muffins for brekkie
Lunch is salad of some sort
Farhoodled sausages in the SC for Dinner tonight

Diva - hope you get the toothache sorted today
PenPin - how you feeling today?

Sad news of Farah Fawcett and Michael Jackson, both very talented people in their own way.
I did'nt realise MJ was was in his 50's though, I loved his earlier music, he had a very strange but sad life, as others have said he never had time for a real childhood, he was catapulted into the limelight at an early age.

better go get sorted have good days all

    Bonjour All

Had a thunderstorm overnight, but trying to brighten up again now.

Coffees perc'd and Bagette fresh from Boulangerie, so brekky in a mo.

    So sad about MJ.

tired-mum ((hugs)) try turning it round on the school and ask if they would just stay there and be hit?? and why had they not stopped the bullying. We all have that point when enough is enough.

    ((hugs)) everyone.
