You can ask for statements but in terms of claiming then its upto 6 yrs back, not sure if you can go back to 6 yrs from when they put the case on hold, its all in the info from Martinxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

When I worked for a Bank, we weren't able to get statements over 6 years old... we couldn't order them at all, never mind send them to customers. Not because we weren't allowed but because the system couldnt produce statements after that long, don't now if the info got wiped off or what.

I'm not sure if you could. Companies are only legally obliged to keep records for 6 years, so after that they probably get rid of them.
And like mum2one said, you can only claim for 6 years anyway

but apparently (and good for us) the concurrent court case has frozen the six year claim to six years before the hold was put on. Meaning that we can claim 6 years prior to July 2007. I need eight years of statements to look back this far.
Can anyone one confirm this as true?0 -
I believe that 6 years is about it when it comes to banks, they are not obliged to keep records older than that, because they are not, they don't.0

You can ask for all the data held on you for as far back as they have it, that's the law.
Unfortunately, since the bank charges campaign began, the banks have become wary of people going further then 6 yrs using the Limitations Act s32 and have routinely started destroying data as soon as it passes the 6 yrs limit in order to stop people from reclaiming further. (I think Natwest may be the exception where you can get 7 yrs of statements online, but I could be wrong on that)
In other words, yes, you can ask, but it is unlikely you will get, and the longer you wait to start your claim, the least info you will get.0 -
Sorry, may sound silly, but surely the banks are not allowed to "start destroying data" that goes beyond 6 years, but up until July 2001?
They have to be able to let people claim back this far, as that is 6 years prior to when everything was "put on hold".
Surely they would have to be held accountable for destroying this information, knowing that they legally have to be able to provide it to their customers should they wish to claim from them?
Sorry, as I said, this may be silly, but I am getting my OH to do this and would not be pleased if they did not allow him to go back as far as he is legally allowed to.0
