B&q is driving us mental!!!1

Options
Hi i am a newbie here so am sorry if i do make a mistake will posting...

Right so we 1st order'd our kitchen from B&Q in end of Feb 2009 so all the ussual planning with the designer and fees extra were sorted! Right now we were givin an initial day of mid May for instillation... they have this thing where all products arrive at there depot and are checked 2 weeks prior to the instilliation being delivered to my house along with the fitter....

Right so obviously we wern't so pleased my sis jus spent £16, 000 and we had to wait as they had no other free slots for instillation.. ok they win but hey May came and the fitter came in the morning witht 1 person (the driver).. that had to take all of the kitchen stuff of the van ... lucky the fitter boy was there to help but helloo... health and safety B&Q duh... you make us do all this computer training every other month (unfortunetly i do work for them part time as im at uni :( )...

OH FORGET TO MENTION 2 DAYS BEFORE THE DELIVERY THEY RANG MY SIS OH YOUR FRIDGE FREEZER (WORTH OVER £800) ALONG WITH YOUR MICROWAVE IS OUT OF STOCK.. how convenient!!

+ GETS BETTER NO FLOOR TILES THAT WE ORDERED..

Meanwhile we had to order a cabinet to hid the boiler we had fitted which we were hasled like crazy to pay £500 lol.. please give us a break!

Right so this new fitter they sent on his own right he struggled for a few days as we did have quiet a large kitchen... AGAIN B&q HEALTH AND SAFETY YOU SEND THIS LIL LAD TO DO A 2 PERSON NOT TO MENTION BIG JOB..

Another fitter was sent the next day along with the aplliance fitter who bless kicked both there backside in and we were getting some major work done.. That same day we had a delivery of worktops again they sent 1 driver lmao.. but hey there was the other 3 guys luckily.. but these are real granite worktops so boi were they still heavy.

Right in between i forget to mention between the 2-3 days the 3 guys were here they told me oh you cant fit the total amounts of cabinets.. oh great!! Not to happy but oh well we changed plans...

And so the story continues I am fastwarding a lot im sory for boring its just so long..

The lads all left leaving me with an incomplete kitchen as they could do nothing as there was nothing for them to fit.... the walls which I had freshly painted a few days ago had all been ripped out becuase of the electric lights they had to install under the cabinets and in other places... I had some cabinet doors missing... my sister was about to just burst into tears.. as this was supposed to be a present for my mum... :(

My sis rang and rang the depo people.. and apparently she is now dealing with a head of customer care becuase of the probs...

today the 25/06/09 we were supposed to finally get our fridge freezer + microwave.. guess what??? Delivery guy came 1 person again no suprise but when the box says 4 person lift and I have unfortunatly had to deliver one of these they are humangous... BUT hang on my sis rang the depo firstly to debate why you send 1 person to deliver such an item and whether a fitter for the frige freezer would be coming... representitive replied "oh its very easy Miss you jus plug it in" .. right my sister now flipped she had just about had plenty of this... and my sis said if she did not sort out the fitter ro come install it for today she would want a whole money back they can take back what is still waiting to be installed (e.g. under floor heating stuff we already brought ourselves) and remaiining items as well is this half a kitchen they have installed..

last and no leaset the tap they installed has began to leak and the worktops do not clean themseleves no matter how much we use the special liquids they had given us and they said they would send someone from the manafacturer.. lol yeh right no news on tany of that yet... they have sent people round to consider the faults but no one gets back.. my sister now suffers from depression and high blood pressure... which she did not before this whole rubbish with b&Q

GUESS WHAT THE RUDE WOMEN DID NOT SORT ANYTHING OUT AND I JUST WANT YOUR HONEST OPINIONS OF WHAT TO DO... MY SISTER HAS BEEN PUT UNDER SO MUCH STRESS THANKS TO B &q THEY ALL LIE AND NO ONE SORTS NOTHING OUT... ITS RIDICULOUS

please help can we get our money back .. who do we complain to??? can we sue 4 breach of contract or inferior quality or something along the lines as nothings fit for its purpose that they have installed...??? please help smeone many many thanks in advance and thanks for reading...

Surely if you work for them, you can get things sorted out through your line management? They know exactly who stocks what and whether your missing items are due back in stock. If you do not have an item you can claim a refund and buy what you need elsewhere, unless of course it is kitchen parts but I'm sure that someone in your store has the influence to get things organised for you.

Also how the heck do you spend £16,000 on a B&Q kitchen at all, let alone with an employee discount!

To be honest, your post is a little unintelligable and all I'm picking up is how they only send out one guy for a two man lift. That's not your issue.

I honestly cannot tell what you are missing, what you have, what you don't. I have one kitchen fitter, he does it all for us, I have no issues with how many people it takes to fit a kitchen nor how many people it takes to make a delivery as long as it ends up where I need it.

Perhaps if you are complaining to B&Q in this rather long winded and meandering way, you could make some bullet points of what it is that you actually require from them. complaining for the sake of complaining will not see you getting what you need.

Next time you talk with them, give them a list of what you want. Don't beat about the bush.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
  • thanks for your quick reply...

    1. I work for B&Q store... not the DSP where they special kitchens stuff is delivered from.. I can no use my time at work to ring the centre.. (have tried on my lunches etc they take just as long to pick up as if I was to ring from home). No my line managers wont do anything as none of the stock is needed from the store which yes then they would intervine!

    2. Kitchen cost us £9000 + £4000 insulation + all the other stuff tiles etc... YES THATS WITH MY 20% DISCOUNT..

    3. They sent someone 3 weeks ago to see the damages and i gave them a list of what I want to comphensate.. but no reply nothing... Just dont know how to get them to get of there backside and just sort this whole mess out b4 we all loose the plot...

I agree entirely with Doozergirl. The best way to describe your post is "meandering and disjointed". If I was in receipt of your complaint. I would have a great deal of difficulty in deciding what the hell you were complaining about. You obviously do have some serious issues with the supply and fit of this kitchen. But rambling on in a disjointed way will not make it easier for someone to deal with.
To address a couple of your points.
    1) What did you expect to happen about the wiring of the lights? The wires either go on the surface, or beneath the surface. This will require that the surface is chopped into, in order to bury the wires. The fact that you had just painted the wall is simply unfortunate. Either that, or have them on the surface where they show. Perhaps you would prefer that. The whole project seems to smack of a lack of overall liaison, between the supplier, the installer and the customer.
    2) You say that the worktops "will not clean themselves" I have never heard of a work top that will "clean itself". If that is not what you meant to say, then I suggest that you edit your post. It is quite confusing enough already.

I am sorry if I sound harsh, but sometimes, things need saying, even if the recipient does not like to hear them.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
