Hi,
Yesterday I purchased a dining table (with four chairs) for £150 from an ex-catalog shop. They were delivered today and I noticed on one of the chairs one leg was shorter than the rest, so I phone up the retailer and made them aware of the fault, the retailer offered to repair the chair an I accepted. I asked her would it be possible to return the the item for a full refund, but instead was offered an exchange or a credit note.
My husband put up the dining table and we notice quite a few chips on the corners of the table and the legs. The table itself is externally large compared to the chairs, and looks like it actually seat 6. I have noticed online that Argos are selling exactly the same table with 8 chairs.
I do not want credit note or an exchange, but a refund due to the faults - how should i go about this.
Thank you in advance
It is faulty, therefore under the Sale of Goods Act, (SoGA), you are entitled to a refund! Quote SoGA and print some of the info from the links below, if no joy contact Consumer Direct, who will put you through to your local Trading Standards department.

Consumers who call Consumer Direct from a mobile phone are handled personally. We will offer to text a landline number to consumers who call us from a mobile phone, and who live in an area that is served by Consumer Direct, because calls from mobile phones to 0845 numbers can be much more expensive.

You need to write to the company by recorded delivery ASAP. You also need to decide why you are rejecting the goods - cos you have changed your mind or because they are damaged?
IIRC under distance selling you have seven days to reject the goods if you have changed your mind (size/ no. of chairs); if it's faulty you need to make the retailer aware as soon as you notice. A phone call is not good enough - and a few days to report the chips will leave you open to the shop saying you damaged the product yourself.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
As Fire Fox has said, you need to decide why you are rejecting the goods.
Your post is a bit confusing as you say you accepted the offer of a repair then say you want a refund.
If you could post again with some clearer info then I am sure someone will be able to help.
Distance selling regulations do not apply as the table was bought in a shop.0
