Help, how to cancel ID protection insurance

My Partner recently applied her first credit card with Nat west.

She called to activated the card and was told about ID protection and that it was a must have.

She didn't know anything about this kind of thing the person on the phone said that she should take it out now, get the T&C's and make her choice to cancel or not.

When I heard she had paid £80 for ID protection for 1 year! I was no no, we should cancel that, but advised her to wait until she receive the Policy doc' and t & c’s.

The Policy docs and T&C’s have never been received in the post, so after a few weeks I advised her to right a letter to both bank and CCP asking them to cancel the charge on her credit card due to the fact she has not received the policy to review.

They have today written back saying she is not entitled to a refund due to the 14day period elapsing.

My question is..

What can be done to get this cancelled?

Is there anything legal wise out there which can be used to get them to cancel the charge?

I mean it’s a hard pill to swallow, when they state that the 14 days notice period to cancel was included in the Policy documents which we have never recvied.

    Hi there

The same sort of thing happened with my husband, it was about 4 months later before he received any sort of t&c's, so not aware of the cancellation.

However, the company who were lloyds tsb would not have it, but did eventually cancel, although he receiving nothing back in refund.

This did have to go as far as the financial ombudsman service (FOS), they resolved this in my hubby's favour and received every penny he paid with the ppi and interest.

I would write to them and tell them if they do not cancel and refund what have been paid with interest you will take matters further, because there were no terms & conds until sometime later.

If they don't resolve this then I'm sure the FOS will.;)
