Putting in an offer

We have been viewing houses and have found one that we want to put an offer in for. We are first time buyers, have discussed mortgages but not actually got one yet. Do we make an offer on this house before we have met about a mortgage or wait while after?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Who have you discussed a mortgage with, a mortgage advisor, a bank?
Do you know how much you can borrow, have you got an agreement in principle to show estate agents/sellers than you can proceed with an offer?
I am a ftb as well, check here for independent mortgage advise

We have discussed with a bank. We have a meeting with a mortgage adviser on monday, and have a good idea of what we can borrow. What to do?!0

Seeing as you know roughly what you can borrow, I'd put in a low-ish offer and negoiate upwards if they refuse it.
Have you done any research on the area, the street etc. Check here http://www.nethouseprices.com to find out how much houses have been selling for, a lot of people say aim for 2003/4 prices now.
Anyway good luck with your offer:beer:0
