Student-query about electoral roll

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this query but couldn't find anywhere else to post it!
I'm a student in final year of study, will hopefully graduate in July. Because I have been moving house a lot in recent years I kept myself on the electoral roll registered at my parent's house until now. I will move into a new place hopefully permanently from July and want to build up a good credit history there and therefore want to register on the electoral roll at this new address.
I have got the form and whilst filling it in have noticed a question which asks for the date I moved out of my old address (i.e. my parents). I officially moved out in June 2003 and this is the honest date, but I'm worried if I put this date down I could get in trouble for keeping myself registered at my parents since then?

Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????

Put that you moved out recently. I went through university using my parents address for electoral roll and also for my credit cards. It makes a lot of sense to keep doing that and you havent actually moved out till now assuming you have been going back to your parent's during the holidays during your course0
