Turning Off Computer

For some reason it's taking my laptop a good 3-4 minutes to turn off. Is there anyway to speed this up?

In addition, even though it says it will install automatic updates when it turns off, its not doing it and I'm having to do it manually. Any ideas why this is happening?

Thanks.

Have you checked whether you have got malware/spyware on your pc, try something like cc cleaner to clean up your pc, it might help & certainly wont do any harm.

It's Windows XP. I've only had it a couple of weeks and it's been like that since I got it.
