Money withdrawn from cash machine even though I have card

It is known that there has been an outbreak of card cloning as a result of tampered point of sale chip n pin machines. The sort you get at supermarket tills etc.
In most cases though, its someone known to the card owner who has done it.0 -
With all due respect that article is 18 months old - and if it were possible to draw cash from ATMs within UK using cloned debit cards the banks would be in a much much worse position than they are in at the moment;)0

I have seen no evidence whatsoever BUT am always happy to be shown new evidence
But seriously, if the OP has fallen foul of ATM fraud in which the card was chip read, it won't take the bank long to determine this and their usual reaction is to confidently point the finger at the customer. That would be unfortunate, but will clarify the situation.0 -
I hope you're not suggesting I take a soldering iron to the chip on my debit card and go around trying it out in various cashpoints! :rotfl:

Hmmm. Check this out last year - Cash Cloner Cashes in at ATM.
And later last year - OAP had card cloned and used in UK ATM.0 -

I think you will find they were CASH CARDS not DEBIT CARDS - I have yet to see evidence of debit cards being cloned and working in the UK (recently) - I believe you was involved in another thread where it was discussed in detail and the reasons why it could not be done.
That is not to say that fraudsters are not working on it or it can be done but is not being publicised0
