virgin line rental

Have been with Virgin cable service until recently when I moved house were there is no cable. Virgin say that if I cancel my current contract I will have to pay a cancellation fee of approx £120. They say I have two options:-

1) Get a BT line and transfer to their National Service so no cancellation fee chargeable, although BT have told me I will have to pay £120+ for line rental.

2) Virgin say I can wait for 3 weeks and take their line rental and calls again incurring no penalty charges for cancelling previous cabling contract.

The obvious thing is to wait for Virgin line rental but does anyone else know about this because there is not mention on their website about forthcoming line rental. I'm reluctant to wait especially if it gets delayed but I really don't want to pay BT line rental connection fee.

Many thanks

Virgin National Non Cable ) only deliver their phone service by carrier preselect ( CPS) at the moment. The only landline supplier that allows you to CPS your calls is BT.

VM are telling people that they will able to fit non cable phone lines from August and offer a full service, but of course you have no guarantee they will meet that date, and dont know their connection charge, line rental, or terms of contract.

I personally would avoid Virgins poor non cable broadband and expensive phone service.

BT are offering free connection until 30th of June and you can have an ISP of your choice.

Had a call from Virgin yesterday to say that the line rental option has been delayed. They suggested I pay for the BT line rental and fax them the bill which they will say they will deduct from my account as a gesture of goodwill because of the delay. I guess this is because I am an existing cable customer transferring to non-cable service, but it sounds too good to be true!
