Hi,
About 4 - 5 years ago i opened up a nationwide current account and for some reason they set up 2 accounts for me so i received 2 bank cards and 2 pin numbers (different account numbers) anyway i still use one of the bank accounts now to get paid etc... About 3 years ago i set up a direct debit with the card i never use by accident so I got a letter a few weeks later saying I had to pay a £30 charge because there was no money in that account when they tried to take the direct debit out - i eventually transferred the £30 into the account to get rid of the debt so i don't have to worry about that account again and for some reason after i paid the debt off a few weeks later i get a £0.07p interest charge added to that account which then took my account to £0.07p in the red, i din't do anything about it as i wasn't using that account didn't check the balance or anything and as far i was concerned i already paid a £30 charge i don't believe i should of... I went into the bank about 4 months ago and now that £0.07 has gone up 2 £411.41 i explained to them what happened and to check that i paid the money (which i know i did) and they said they couldn't see the transactions that far back but offered to me that if i pay £180 within the next week they would cancel the charge, i anyway there's no way i was paying £180 for a charge i already paid and now the debt has been passed to the debt collectors, i really don't know what to do now because if i go into the bank they just say they can't see the transactions from those dates because it happened more than 2 years ago and i don't have any statements to prove i paid the charge either, has anybody got any advice for me?? there's no way i'm paying £411.41 i really think this is wrong!

What shall i do about the debt collectors while i'm waiting for my 6 years of statements? how long roughly does it take for me to get the 6 years of statements back?0

Tell the debt collector that you have taken some legal advice and are requesting statements from the bank(you can go back to 27th July 2001). Until you have clarified that the amount in question is owed, you will not agree to any payment plans with them and if they pursue you that you will complain to the OFT with regards to debt collection guidelines and chasing a disputed debt. What shall i do about the debt collectors while i'm waiting for my 6 years of statements? how long roughly does it take for me to get the 6 years of statements back?0
