Do some buyers make you want to bang your head against the wall???

Hi all, just using this as a way to vent. I put up the following for sale on amazon:
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games - wii game
Comments: Just the disc as box and manual are missing. Plays fine, a little scratched

Someone bought it and I sent it, as you do, then today I received this email:

I have recieved item but where is the cover? There was no information saying that this product had no cover. If I had known then I would not have purchased the item.

Garrhh! Am I within my rights to not give a refund on this? Or should I do the noble thing and let him return it to me?

You have to be very careful on Amazon with this sort of thing because many do not read the description you have given.

If something is missing send them a poilite email and explain and ask if they wish to continue with the sale.

Oh and Amazon will find in buyers favour.

Do you still have access to the advert? Could you send the buyer a copy and point out that you did indeed mention that the game was missing the box and manual?

Amazon buyers do not read the description - I now email them before posting to confirm anything slightly out of the norm.

I sent them this email with the details from the sale:

    Hi,
The sale clearly stated the following:
    Order-Item ID: 17474438218451
    Condition: Used - Good
Comments: Just the disc as box and manual are missing. Plays fine, a little scratched

As you can see I clearly stated "just the disc as box and manual are missing".
If you look in the "my orders" seection and look at the order for the game it will show the information at your end.
I listed the item cheaper than other sellers for this reason.

    They've replied with:
Thanks for your response, I am sorry but I did not see this, it is going to be a present so it is no good with just the game.

So on that basis I think I'm ok as he hasn't specifically asked for a refund. Would Amazon really find in his favour, even with my shiny accurate item description?

And I'll take the warnings to heart and email buyers with anything out of the ordinary in future.
Would you say that matters for things like damaged boxes of dvds or bashed books?

Yes Amazon will expect you to refund. They are quite touchy about incomplete items listed against catalogue, and they also allow refunds for any reason whatsoever.

Get buyer to return and issue a full refund on safe receipt.

With Amazon, the buyer has the right to return the item for a full refund, so not really much you can do.

If they are as dumb as the dozy t*** that didn't read my listing, then you will probably get a negative feeback too (not that I'm bitter or anything).

I had a 3* recently on Amazon, really hurt me. The reason they gave was that the book was not in very good condition and they were unhappy as it was meant to be a gift. I sold the book as acceptable only, tanned pages, creasing to cover!

I emailed the buyer and explained that I thought her feedback was unfair and asked whether she wanted to return the book for a full refund, and she said no as my book was cheaper than the others, but she still wasn't happy that Amazon sold her a used book when she was expecting a new one. She thought it underhand of Amazon not to warn her she was buying 2nd hand.

Hmm, so I wonder what she thought she was looking at when she browsed the second hand listings and opted to buy a copy listed as 'acceptable only'.
