car hire at london airport

Hi guys.....im wanting to fly to London...any airport....i think Stanstead airport is cheaper to get to...correct me if i am wrong. Was wondering if the airport does car hire....... Can anyone help. Also, now that im asking, might aswell ask if anyone knows of any cheap tickets going......

I have hired cars at Stansted, Gatwick and Heathrow. The only problem I have had was at Stansted when I was returning the car to Gatwick. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the company (not much help, I know) but this advice hold true for any off airport car hire. 1) I had to get a taxi to the darkened industrial estate to pick up the car (extra cost right there) and 2) when I returned the car at Gatwick there was no one to accept it, and more importantly, no transport back to Gatwick. Luckily there was an off airport car park next door who kindly gave my children and I a lift to the airport otherwise we would never have got there. The moral of this story is stick to name brands - cheap is not necessarily cheerful.
