Hi all,

I had massive problems with BT last year.

I ordered a new line well in advance of my move date to a new site, but because of a complete muck up by BT I got my telephone & broadband disconnected at my, then current address.
I spent weeks attempting to sort it out with BT. I got my phone line connected back, but not my dial up nor broadband.

When we were due to move BT engineers still hadn't run a cable to new site - so delayed moving by 3 months.

They then connected me to a different number - requested that I kept the number I had. I cannot tell you the difficulties this cause me & stress.

Had to go out on the road looking for engineers! Spent about 100 hours on tel to BT.

Got offered either a box of chocs or a bunch of flowers.

I complained & got offered £75 - refused it. They offered £150 - I refused it.

I requested my file through freedom of info stuff - sent my £10 off . That didn't appear after 40 days. Spent then 7 hours tring to chase that up in call centres.

Sent another £10 off by recorded delivery & cancelled the first cheque. After another 40 days file still not appeared. Phoned again. Spent a week tring to find out what had happened to my file as the cheque for £10 had been cashed.
Eventually got that - as thick as a magazine so it is.

I lost a lot of money losing the broadband as I had stuff due up on ebay. Had to take stuff to charity warehouse 70 miles away. Because we were moving into a caravan, couldn't move settees, sideboards, carpets - loads of stuff - as it don't fit into a caravan!

I had to pay three months rent & council tax as I wouldn't move until the phone line & broadband - or at the least - dial up connection was up & running.
I was told at one point that I had to take my computer to PC World as it was corrupted! That would be 70 Miles away in Inverness!

OH my goodness - it has been a time.

I wrote to |Otelo as I was sick to blinking death of dealing with BT's chairman's office staff.

Wrote in & asked them to get hold of the thick file or I would send them mine.

They wrote back after ages saying that I was entitled to £150. I wrote back & said that was not enough by a long shot.

Got a letter today saying I am outwith the deadline for sending in further representations. I was not. Phoned them up & they said that they had my letter within the deadline.
They have not read my file!

I am now with the Ombudsman - who is in the same office - for goodness sake, yet they reckon they are independant of Otelo.

I can understand why people do not complain. It is a blinking nightmare.

Sorry for the vent - had to get it off my chest.
