My cameras died so after a new one. Im after a compact that takes pretty damn fine pics with little effort. Be good to have an SD port so I can use the ones I have now. Good Battery life is a plus
I was looking at a Pan like this one ~

It has the ability to record HD movies too (720P) so that would be a bonus

Any help entirely welcome (Im willing to pay upto...erm.....200 quid say)

The Canon IXUS 870 IS is an excellent camera (also available in gold) for just over £200.

Yes that's a very good camera Rik, at a very good price. I have a similar Panasonic and I particularly like the ultra wide angle lens and the minimal shutter lag, which is important to help avoid missing those special quick snaps. Having a Li-ion battery is really important too as standard AA batteries run down really quickly. The movies are surprisingly good and I can record as long as I like - my old Canon was restricted to 30 second clips.

Rik, I've had a quick look around for you, and the Canon is £179.97 from Currys with free delivery.

Cheers Marty. Im gonna go for a recon off ebay (or bid anyways). Their recons arent actually recons. Theyre either bought and sent back, sent in wrong packaging or been used as a demo. None of which bothers we when they can be had with around 80 quid off
