    Why is it stupid?

    Cause if I had to reinstall or wanted to upgrade my operating system from XP to W7 and lived anywhere else in Europe and have a very complicated job of getting a browser. If there's no browser to start with, I can't just go online and download one!

    I think they're considering some sort of screen during set up where you choose what browser you'd like to use.

    It's certainly not going to be a situation of having a computer without a browser, and then you're left to your own devices as to how to get one on it.

    Well if they do that it might not be so bad! But surely the majority of people will just add at least IE and maybe another browser?

    I'm sure lots of people will choose IE, but then again, lots of people use IE (for reasons that escape me at present).

    Many will choose Firefox, Safari, or Chrome, and not bother installing IE at all.

    So the good deal on the full version pre-order pricing for Europe is available to UK people. But in the UK you get IE8 included too?

    I mainly use Chrome, but I need IE as well because there are some sites that only seem to work in IE. Not very many mind, but still the odd few.

    The full version upgrade applies to the E version, because there won't be an E version upgrade available at launch. So rather than stop people in Europe being able to upgrade to Windows 7 at upgrade prices, they're giving them the full version instead.

    If the E version won't be released in the UK, then I don't see why the upgrade offer would apply there. They'll be able to supply upgrade disks at launch.

    It's all very confusing though, so who knows?

    Less people using IE means less websites designed to only work with IE, which means a better and more open internet.

    Looks like Paul has changed his page;
    Note while that these "E" versions do apply to the UK, the UK has different (and higher) pricing than the rest of the EU, presumably because the UK has not adopted the Euro.
