    Note the small-print:
"When you install the E edition of Windows 7, you'll need to do a custom (clean) installation. That means you'll need to back up all of your files and settings, install the operating system, then re-install your files, settings, and programs. Important: The E editions of Windows 7 do not contain an Internet browser. Please get a browser from Microsoft or a third party and have it on a CD/DVD or another device so it's ready to install after the Windows 7 installation is complete. "
  • What this about about upgrading to Vista, and then to Windows 7 later on when it is released, without buying a new computer? This website from Microsoft suggests that it'll work but doesn't say how.

    http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windows/buy/offers/upgrade.aspx

For instance, if I purchased Vista Home Premium from Amazon, how would I then go about getting the free upgrade to Windows 7?

I dont think its a very good idea, you're better off using the RC version of win7 and preorder it, it will work out cheaper.

if you do you'd need to ask a participating retailer....

That's what I think too now! Originally I thought it was a good idea as I thought I could just upgrade twice instead of a clean install. Although it now seems that a clean install is needed anyway!

For the full version too, not upgrade. Very good price point.
