I bought an item on ebay and couldn't get to pick it up as the seller was going away, he said he didn't mind waiting until he came back as long as I paid a deposit to him, he gave me his emaill address and I sent 50 pounds (the item was 180 total) I recieved an email today saying the money has been returned, reason being he has no paypal account. Today is the date he has returned I think, would he have had to authorise this and why the f did he tell me to send the money if he has no account
I kept to my side of the deal.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

He must have a paypal account to sell on ebay. I reckon he gave you a duff email address to fob you off as he dosen't want to sell the item at the price you bid.0

I think it takes 30 days for unclaimed money to be returned."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

I paid it on 25th May so that's 31 days. Don't know whether it is automatic return or he has sent it.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0

It sounds like an automatic return.
Perhaps the seller didn't fancy paying the paypal fees ... or perhaps they didn't have access to their paypal account whilst they were away to accept the payment.
As the seller has now returned, why not contact them to arrange to pick up the item asap offering cash on collection. If the seller has been away, they couldn't have sold it in the meantime could they?"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
