How do i get new account with bad credit rating.

Hi all,

need some help.

Was sequetrated/made bankrupt in April 2006, just in the last few days of getting everything sorted and coming out of it.

Currently got HSBC plus account, but looking to get a new account.

How can i manage this as my credit is terrible and i can't see anyone wanting to take a chance.

I clear £2750 a month so wil have no issue with money going into account, but like i said need to start again and can't see how too.

Any help is appreciated...

Basic bank accounts such as Halifax Easycash do the job for you.

The question which immediately springs to mind is why would you need two bank accounts? What's wrong with sticking with what you already have?

    Let me guess . . . . . .

Even though it does sound as if you yourself work for a bank, either that or your just smug/self-important/pretencious ooh these all mean the same thing.

    I'll answer this...

Simple answer is i want to get the best out of having a bank account for myself.

Get decent rate due the amount of cash getting paid in...
Not having to pay monthly subscription fee...
    etc etc etc...

Given you're already with HSBC have you tried speaking to them about changing your plus account to a normal one? As you're already a customer they would know more about your personal situation (in terms of incomings and outgoings) so may be able to provide you a better deal than another bank who will by the sound of it, instantly refuse you any type of credit scored account?

Yeah good shout, might as well give them a call and see what they've got to say.

    Thanks for that...

If you have already got a HSBC Plus account, you need to have it for at least 12 months (due to the contract) before you can downgrade it to a Current Account Advance.

If you are able to downgrade the account, this will save you going through a credit check and scoring for a brand new account.

This is only true if you have used some of the features on the account such as Breakdown cover or claimed on the travel insurance. If you haven't done either of these, then you can downgrade at any time within the contract for a one off fee of £12.95.

Then, after you've done that, you might want to ask them for some advice on tieing your shoelaces up.

Seriously, if it's as simple as knowing what account to use, wouldnt it be simple just to go the banks themselves and . . ummm . . . well . . ask them?

    Good grief.
